So much of Venice’s charm and character is found in the endless canals, corridors, and alleyways – passages that seem to spring up around every turn and lead to these tucked away worlds, known only to the descendants whose families have been residing here for ages. I was happy to get completely lost in this floating city. After setting my alarm early, I ventured out to experience the streets in solitude. One passage led to the next and the next and the next… I couldn’t stop – I was addicted to the sunrise reflecting its warm glow off the street. My instincts led the way as I chased the light and hoped for the right shot. As I turned a final corner I found what I had been looking for. I immediately knew only a wide angle lens would be right to enhance this dramatic perspective. When I look at this image, I am drawn in by the allure of Venice and its secret history.
