Hawai’i is truly a magical place and every time I go there, I aim to capture that on film. Lanikai is such a classic, pure, iconic Hawaiian beach – I wanted to capture its soul. The two offshore islands gave the image a sense of scale, you just want to be out there.
The rich, turquoise color of the water blew my mind. I used a polarized filter to cut the glare as some insane clouds gathered on the horizon to complete this piece of paradise. You can feel the warm tropical water through your toes and the cooling summer breeze on your face as you look into this image. It cleanses the soul, taking you to a special place – out there on an island.
