One of my biggest challenges shooting this massive city was where to capture the magic from. Avoiding all the tourist spots really narrowed down my options. I knew the rooftop of the Metlife Building would be a major vantage point, but all the bullshit and red tape to get up there was a bloody nightmare. Security was off the charts, but I had to get the shot. All my phone calls and emails were getting nowhere fast. My last card was a text to a New York high rolling banker. When I checked my phone I was bloody stoked. My persistence paid off. I only had one chance and had to take it. Timing was critical. I had a team of security blokes that escorted me to the rooftop. The wind was roaring and the view was world class. Twilight was closing in – I worked fast and took a series of panoramic shots framing the two icons, the Chrysler and the Empire State. Golden light reflected its glow through the city and a four second exposure captured the mood of this incredible city.
